I am an LMT, Educator, Midwife, Healer and Spiritual Clergy, born and raised in El Paso, Texas, and living in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I come from a family of doctors and healers going back 7 generations, and I draw on my family’s Cheyenne, Lakota, and indigenous Latin American spiritual and healing traditions in my own work and life. My grandmother was one of the first women chiropractors to be licensed. My grandfather was a doctor, and my father worked with him doing births and family care. Later, I worked with my father doing births, and when I was 17 years old, I caught my first baby: my niece, who was born at home. I knew then that I wanted to catch babies for the rest of my life, and I have caught over 2000 babies so far. My work as a healer has expanded to include (among other things) full scope GYN care, massage therapy, herbalism, aromatherapy, Reiki, spiritual healing, childbirth education, labor support, doula training, CPR and First Aid training, midwifery education, massage education, sex education, transgender healthcare, LGBTQ awareness education, and peace and social justice activism and advocacy. I founded the first LGBTQ center in Las Cruces with my husband Jess Weinberg. I am a nationally Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) r, also licensed in New Mexico. I received my formal midwifery training at Maternidad La Luz birth center in El Paso, and I have been practicing home birth and birth center midwifery and hospital labor support in the Southwest since 1995.
I have over 30 years of Holistic Healing, Bodywork and Midwifery experience; I use Reiki, Chakra Healing, Herbs, Oils, Spiritual Counseling, Qi Gong and sound vibration healing among other traditional healing modalities, Massage and am Nationally Board Certified and Licensed. By working with all types of clients, I am versatile and experienced at facilitating the healing journey for each and every encounter regardless of your health goals or the nature of your discomfort. Therapeutic Massage and Holistic Healing opens space for all clients to heal the body, mind, and spirit. I can aid you in finding the source of the pain, by beginning a healing journey with you, by including and encouraging you to participate in the healing process.
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist NM #6868, RMTI-S #0498, RMTI-I #0595 LMr Licensed Midwife retired, CPMr Certified Midwife retired, Certified Aroma therapist, and Certified Master Herbalist with a Degree in Psychology and a Doctorate in Spiritual Healing.
I have lived in South America, Mexico, and have traveled in Europe, Africa, and North America, and various other parts of the world. I have studied, practiced, and taught midwifery in many of these places. I am bilingual in Spanish and English. Not just my father’s daughter, I also have carried on my mother’s legacy as an educator. I founded the Living Tree International College of Midwifery, which trains midwifery students from around the world and sends apprentice midwives around the world to learn from birthing and midwifery experiences in countries still undergoing industrialization. I am also the founder and creator of the DAME (Doulas Attending Mothers Exceptionally) program, a bilingual doula certification training program. I am the recipient of the Vagina Worrier Award for my support and service of women. For many years, I trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) across New Mexico, and currently provide safe housing for victims of trauma and abuse. I also trained local EMTs in emergency childbirth. I am a member of the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) and the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and a NARM preceptor. I am a State Approved Midwife Preceptor for New Mexico through the state health department. I have 23 years of Bradley childbirth instructor experience, a CPR and First Aid instructor with American Heart Association for 23 years. I am a certified OWLs (Our Whole Lives) sexuality education instructor with the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA), and most recently, a licensed massage therapy instructor at the Massage Therapy Training Institute (MTTI) in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
I am still pursuing my own education as well. I bring all of my professional education and experience to this endeavor, as well as my personal experiences as a survivor of breast, cervical, skin, throat and uterine cancer, rape and physical assault hate crimes, spousal suicide, and addiction. I have given birth to two sets of twins, daughters who passed at 21 weeks who I birthed unassisted at home, and adult sons who I birthed in a birth center with midwives in 1993. I also have 7 grandchildren, several rescue animals (dogs and cats), and a spouse who has helped and supported me in all of these activities since 2006. I am listed as a Top Educator in the Nation with Elsevir and was nominated for National Teacher of the Year. I absolutely love what I get to do and look forward to many more years of growing and healing.
